ABOUT
I’m not gonna lie to you, the entertainment business can be tough. It can also be extraordinarily rewarding. But screenwriting is a deceptively difficult craft. I think maybe because we’ve all seen plenty of movies, an awful lot people seem to think they can write a one-- until, that is, they actually sit down and try. And then they usually discover it’s not quite as easy as it looks. There are a multitude of elements to juggle-- concept, structure, plots and subplots, characters, pacing, theme, arcs and goals, dialogue and subtext, tone, visuals, conflict, commerciality, etc.-- and always more to learn.
So, if you’ve done the hard work and completed a screenplay, congratulations! It’s an enormous accomplishment to finish a script and you should feel very proud of yourself. But, in a sense, that is only the beginning. As the saying goes, “writing is re-writing”. That’s where a consultant who can bring fresh perspective and genuine professional expertise can be extremely beneficial. I can help to empower and guide you to bring your script to its highest possible realization before you approach an agent or producer.
And if you’re not quite there yet, if you’re at the outline stage wanting feedback, are trying to decide which of a number of prospective ideas to pursue, or simply stuck somewhere in between, a consult with someone who not only truly understands these struggles first-hand, but has also been an executive on the other side of the desk can help get you on the right track. Please take a look at the various packages I have available and feel free to contact me to discuss which approach might work best for you. So that you can strive to, as I once heard Steve Martin advise those asking what was the best way to get into the business, “Be so good, they can’t ignore you.”
I look forward to working with you~
“What’s all this business of being a writer? It’s just putting one word after another.”
